Don't Die with the Music Still In You

newsletter archives Feb 05, 2020

"Don't die with the music still in you."
This advice, attributed to the beloved author Wayne Dyer, is a powerful invitation to live fully—to rise above fear and share the unique contribution you were born to make.

Musicians, authors, inventors, humanitarians, parents, mentors, encouragers, painters, builders, organizers, connectors—I’m talking to you. This isn't just about literal music. It's about your music—everything good you're capable of doing, creating, and expressing. It's your gifts, your calling, your message. And it’s my hope that, alongside Wayne, I can encourage you to take meaningful steps to share it. Because the last thing you want is to take it with you when you go.

None of us really know how much time we have.

Too many people silence their own music. They talk themselves out of sharing their gifts or telling their stories. And the world loses something irreplaceable in the process.

Is there a book inside you?

Maybe you’ve been saying, “One day I’ll write that book.”
But what if “one day” never comes?

What if your grandkids never get to know what was in your heart, because the words were buried with you?

It’s been said that the graveyard is the richest place on earth—filled with unspoken words, unwritten books, unlived dreams, and untapped potential.

This isn’t just feel-good fluff. It’s backed by real stories. One that hits close to home is about someone remarkable who died just a few years ago. My Portal to Genius co-author Garrett Gunderson lost a dear friend in a small airplane crash over Utah Lake. What most people don’t know (and Garrett asked me to share) is that his friend had finally cleared time on his calendar to write the book that had been in him for years. The date was set. But the plane crashed two weeks before. The book never got written.

The world will never know what he had to say—because he didn’t get the chance to say it.

So if you’ve got something to say, prioritize it. Your message won’t write itself. It won’t happen by accident. And it definitely won’t be easy. But it will be worth it. The ones who follow through are the ones who leave a legacy.

Your greatest enemy is procrastination. And that’s where I want to help.

I’m especially here for aspiring authors—maybe like you—who feel like they’ll burst if they don’t get their message out. A message that, if shared, could change someone’s life.

The truth is, most people with life-changing messages aren’t professional writers. They’re not English majors or literature professors. And they don’t need to be.

If you have something meaningful to say, all you have to be is yourself. Willing. Open. And ready to learn.

If you feel like I’m speaking directly to you, then I invite you to join me at my:

Book Writing Retreat
April 21–25, 2020
Crowne Plaza Resort – Chandler, AZ

If something inside you is nudging you to take a closer look—or take a step—click here to learn more and fill out an application. Mark your calendar. If money is tight but your heart says “yes,” trust that a way can open up. Move your feet.

If you're the kind of person I'm looking for, I already know your book is a labor of love. And I believe the people who need it most are, right now, going through life experiences that will prepare them to receive it. As you step forward to bring it to them, they’re on their way to you, too.

Are you willing to let that happen?

How Much Is Your Time Worth?

Writing a book isn’t just about typing words—it’s about creating space for your ideas, silencing distractions, and staying focused. A seven-minute interruption can derail your flow and cost you hours. That’s why the retreat matters. It’s designed to eliminate the noise, save you time, and help you finally GET. IT. DONE.

If you see the retreat as an investment in yourself—your message, your time, your mission—then it’s probably right for you. But if you see it only as a cost or a drain, then it may not be your moment. And that’s okay. This retreat is only for a small handful (up to ten), and not all applications will be accepted. I’m looking for messages that are meaningful, timely, and capable of helping others. Because that’s where I can make the biggest difference.

So if you feel that this opportunity is what you’ve been waiting for—a way to finally bring your book to life and into the hands of the people who need it—then apply soon. Or, if someone else comes to mind, please pass this message along.

Not quite ready to apply?

Join me for a FREE Webinar for Aspiring Authors, where I’ll share some powerful, actionable tips to help you on your journey—whether or not you attend the retreat. I’d love to see you there.
