Grateful for the Accident

The Law of Polarity says: everything has an opposite. Every difficult experience carries within it the potential for something equally good. When you start looking for the good, you invite even more good into your life.
One of my daughters was rear-ended on a busy street. The impact was so strong, it pushed her car into the one in front of her, which was then shoved into the one in front of it. Four cars involved—and somehow, three of them were able to drive away with minimal damage. But my daughter’s car? Completely totaled.
She was devastated. She had just moved to a new area and hadn’t found a job yet. We were deeply grateful she walked away without a scratch, of course—but it was hard to imagine what other good could possibly come from such a discouraging setback.
Her car was a 1998 Honda Accord—nothing fancy, but reliable. The insurance company said it wasn’t worth fixing and decided to cut her a check instead. To our surprise, they sent her $2,400—just $100 less than what she paid for it four years earlier when she was in high school.
Now, here’s where the magic of polarity really showed up.
She had been dreaming of getting a new car for a while but had no idea how she could afford one. She already knew exactly what she wanted—year, make, model, color, mileage, and even the price range. So once she had the insurance money in hand, we set out to find it.
At first, it didn’t seem possible. We went to a dealership and told them exactly what she was looking for. She even pulled up a picture of the car she had saved from one of their ads. The salesman glanced at it and said, “Oh, we don’t have any of those left—at least not at that price.” He showed us another one that was a similar color but had higher mileage and cost more. He told us more cars would be arriving the next day and suggested we return then.
Since we lived an hour away, I asked if he could prequalify her first. While they processed her paperwork, he said he’d keep looking through other lots.
Not long after, he pulled up in a car that made our jaws drop.
It was the exact car from my daughter’s picture—same year, same model, same color, same mileage, and yes, same price. We couldn’t believe it.
Thanks to her insurance check, she was able to make the down payment and drive away in her dream car—something she didn’t think she’d be able to do for a long time. What started as a devastating crash turned into a stunning blessing.
That’s the Law of Polarity in action. Every low holds within it the seed of an equal high—if we’re willing to look for it.
