Greatest Challenge

I once read a quote—though I can’t recall who said it—that stuck with me:

"We can never achieve excellence as long as there remains a gap between our knowing and our doing."
It reminds me of what James wrote:
"...be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." (James 1:22–23)
In other words, if we want our dreams and goals to manifest in the physical world, we must ultimately become people of action. Otherwise, we’re just fooling ourselves.

Think about it—how often do we hear from top mentors and thought leaders that we must write down our goals? That’s action. How often are we told to review them regularly so our minds begin to generate the mindset and solutions necessary to achieve them? Another action. And how many times do we get ideas—powerful, inspired ideas—and then... do nothing with them? Those are the moments where the gap between knowing and doing quietly kills our potential.

So how do we overcome this?

The answer lies in the principle: Be, Do, Have. In that order.

When we struggle to take action, it’s often because we’re not yet being the version of ourselves who naturally does those things. The answer isn’t to “fake it till you make it.” That’s a myth. Just like the man mimicking the wolf in The Jackrabbit Factor didn’t catch his rabbit just by copying the wolf, we won’t create real results by pretending. We have to become who we need to be.

This is where mental conditioning comes in.

That doesn’t mean we stop writing or reviewing our goals—those are key parts of conditioning our minds and shaping our identity. As we focus on being, we begin developing habits and disciplines that strengthen our doing. And that’s when the results start showing up.

Bob Proctor once said, “Tell yourself a lie enough times and you will begin to believe it.” But he wasn’t promoting fakery. He was speaking to the power of repetition—of conditioning your mind until the belief becomes real. Not pretending. Becoming.

So how do we condition ourselves into the version of us that aligns with our dreams?

Through intentional, daily effort:

  • Writing and refining our goals

  • Reviewing them often

  • Scripture study

  • Prayer and meditation

  • Inspirational reading

  • Dream building and vision boards

  • Defining your why and your what

  • Committing to a daily “power hour” of spiritual and mental alignment

This is where being is built. This is where the foundation is laid—not just to do the work, but to become the kind of person who naturally and consistently does it.

Skipping this part is like trying to plant seeds in dry, rocky soil. You may throw them in, but they won’t grow. Becoming prepares the ground for your dreams to take root.

Don’t skip this. Your dreams are counting on you.
