It's For the Dogs!

"This law states that everything is energy and that energy is in a constant state of vibration."

The Law of Vibration teaches us that everything—everything—is energy. That energy is constantly moving, constantly shifting, and always vibrating. It’s more than a poetic concept; it’s the very science behind how the universe functions. The vibration of energy is how signals travel, and these signals are the building blocks of communication—light waves, sound waves, radio waves, microwaves, cell phone signals, satellite transmissions… you name it.

What’s fascinating is that our minds also emit signals—vibrations—whether we realize it or not. We send out a frequency with our thoughts, emotions, and intentions, and others pick up on that frequency, often subconsciously. That’s why some people walk into a room and the whole vibe shifts. It’s real. As my tragically hip son would say, it’s all about the “vibes.”

Science backs this up. Everything around us—whether solid, liquid, gas, or even the ether—is made up of molecules in constant motion. The speed of their movement determines the form they take. The faster they vibrate, the more fluid the substance becomes. Which brings me to a very personal, very real example of how vibration works in everyday life:

I love to run. There’s something about lacing up a pair of good shoes, heading out early on a crisp, clear morning, and feeling the rhythm of the road beneath me. But road running comes with its hazards—commuter traffic, indifferent big rigs, and, for me, dogs. All kinds of dogs. It’s like I have some invisible “dog magnet” on me.

I’ve had enough dog encounters to know that even the so-called friendly ones can surprise you. So, yes, I plan my routes around known dog zones like a runner maps elevation. One particular morning, I was reflecting on the Law of Vibration while also meditating on the Ho’oponopono prayer. If you know it, you’ll understand the connection. If you don’t, don’t worry—I’ll write more about it later. Or Google it. There’s a lot out there.

In short, the prayer goes like this:

I love you.
I’m sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.

Simple, right? But powerful. When I repeat those words sincerely, I feel an immediate shift in my energy. Like something inside me softens and aligns.

So there I was, mid-run, deep in thought and energy, when I was suddenly yanked out of my meditative state by a chorus of barking. Not just one dog—three. Charging toward me, full speed, barking like I’d just trespassed on sacred ground.

It was chaos. In my head, they were saying, “How dare you interrupt our morning business! Run while you can, human!” My heart jumped before I noticed the saving grace—a sturdy fence. They were just leaning up on it, barking their little dog lungs out. I was safe.

As the fear drained, I started to laugh—at the dogs and at myself. And that’s when the thought hit me: What if I try the prayer? What if I send that energy to them? So, I did. I looked at each dog, one at a time, and silently repeated the prayer, directing all the calm, sincere energy I could muster toward them.

I love you.
I’m sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.

And would you believe it? One by one, they quieted down. By the time I finished the third round, all three dogs were just standing there—panting, wagging their tails, totally calm. They didn’t follow me. They didn’t jump. They just… settled. And from that day on, they changed. Every morning, I’d pass them and repeat the prayer, and they would bark only once—just a little “hello” as I ran by. Eventually, they stopped barking altogether.

It worked so well that I started doing it with every dog I came across—whether they saw me or not. And I’m not exaggerating when I say: 100% success rate. Every. Single. Time.

Now, of course, this prayer isn’t just for dog encounters. It works in any situation because it’s not about words—it’s about energy. The reason the dog example stands out is because dogs don’t understand language the way humans do. I couldn’t negotiate with them. I couldn’t reason with them. All I had was energy—and energy doesn’t lie.

The Law of Vibration reminds us that we’re always sending out signals, and those signals are always being received. Whether we’re aware of it or not, we’re shaping our reality with the energy we put out into the world.

So why not make it intentional?
