Law of Cause and Effect

There’s an amazing and powerful law of nature called the Law of Cause and Effect. It has two simple parts:
-
Everything has a cause, and everything has an effect. You can’t have an effect without a cause—or a cause without an effect.
-
For every cause, there is an equal and opposite effect.
In other words, nothing happens by chance. Whatever has happened, is happening, or will happen in your life is the result of something—choices made, actions taken (or not taken). Every outcome we experience is connected to something that came before it.
Our lives are essentially the sum of all the causes and effects we've set into motion. So if we want different outcomes, we have to change what we’re causing. And the beautiful thing is—we can. We have that power within us through our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Here’s how it works:
When we shift our thoughts, our feelings naturally change. Those new feelings inspire different actions. And those actions produce different results.
That means even one small shift in thought can set off a domino effect that changes everything.
But here’s my favorite part about the Law of Cause and Effect:
It’s not all on us.
Every time we move toward our desires, our desires move toward us.
Every action we put out creates a ripple that comes back. This is the hope built into the law.
Think of a boomerang: you throw it, and it returns.
Or imagine a weight machine: you push against it, and it pushes back—with resistance that strengthens you. That pushback is part of the process.
It’s a reminder that we don’t have to do 100% of the work. We only have to do our part—our 50%. The other half will meet us there in the form of return, reaction, reward.
Let me give you a personal example.
In high school, I trained for the two-mile race. At the start of the season, I hadn’t been exercising and was starting from scratch—just like everyone else. But I committed. I ran every day—first two miles, then four, eventually eight to ten miles most days. That consistency changed everything. I became strong enough to compete—and to thrive.
So how did I go from barely making it through a mile to running ten with strength and speed?
The Law of Cause and Effect.
Each time I pushed my muscles, the resistance I felt made me stronger. And every time my feet hit the ground, the ground pushed back with equal force. That pushback—that reaction—is what allowed me to move forward.
That’s the law in action.
So remember: every result has a cause.
If you don’t like the outcome you’re getting, don’t just wish for something different—plant different seeds. Start with your thoughts. Let those thoughts shape your feelings. Let those feelings move you into action. And trust that the law will take care of the rest.
When you do, life begins to shift—and the results you want start to grow.
Not by luck.
Not by chance.
But by law.
