Plant Idea Seeds - The Law of Gestation

The Law of Gender teaches us that in all of creation, there is both a masculine and feminine aspect. One provides the seed; the other nurtures it. For anything to come to life—whether in nature or in our dreams—both roles must be present: the initiating spark and the nurturing follow-through.

The Law of Gestation goes hand in hand with this truth. It tells us that every seed—every idea, goal, or vision—has a natural incubation period. Growth takes time, and every dream has its own perfect timeline for unfolding.

A seed planted in the soil contains everything it needs to become what it was meant to be. But if that same seed is left in your hand or forgotten in a drawer, it will start to break down and disintegrate. Life works the same way—we are either moving forward or backward. Growth or decline. There is no such thing as staying exactly the same.

This principle always brings to mind the Parable of the Sower and how it reflects my own experiences. In the parable, the sower goes out to plant seeds.

Some seeds fall by the wayside, and birds come and eat them. That reminds me of times I’ve had great ideas but didn’t follow through. Maybe I wasn’t sure how to begin or didn’t understand my “why,” and before I could act, I got distracted. The idea never had a chance to take root.

Some seeds fall on rocky ground, where there’s not much soil. They spring up quickly, but the sun scorches them, and without roots, they wither. That reminds me of times I joined something just to “go with the flow.” I may have had a bit of success early on, but when challenges hit, I gave up—because the idea didn’t come from a deep place of conviction.

Other seeds fall among thorns, which choke them out. That reminds me of times I’ve shared ideas with the wrong people—people who, with one sentence, planted doubt or fear in me. They didn’t believe in what I was building and, unfortunately, I let their voices silence mine. Those are the “dream stealers.”

And then, of course, some seeds fall into good soil. They take root and grow—producing fruit thirtyfold, sixtyfold, even a hundredfold. That’s what it feels like when I’ve had a strong, inspired idea, and I follow a powerful process:

  • I get clear on what I want (which often starts by figuring out what I don’t want).

  • I plant the idea in a supportive environment—one that encourages growth.

  • I stay focused on the vision, using it to guide my daily decisions.

  • And most importantly, I act on the inspiration that follows.

When I follow through like that, I’m constantly amazed. The results are often far better than what I imagined at the start. My small idea multiplies—and becomes something bigger, richer, and more impactful.

The Law of Gestation reminds me that every dream, like every seed, has a set gestation period. I don’t need to know exactly when it will sprout—only that it will. As long as I keep nurturing it with action, faith, and belief, that seed will break through the surface when the time is right. And when it does, the harvest is always worth the wait.
