Unconditional Love… and Unconditional Receiving
We’ve all heard about unconditional love, right? But have you ever thought about unconditional receiving?
I didn’t even know that was a thing—until I realized it was something I really struggled with. I mean, think about it… how often do we believe we have to hustle, grind, earn, and prove ourselves just to be worthy of the good things in life? Sound familiar? Yeah, me too.
I believed that if I could just white-knuckle my way through, then maybe—maybe—I’d finally reach my goals. I thought if I didn’t sweat for it, suffer for it, or sacrifice for it, then I didn’t deserve it. And then a dear friend looked me in the eyes and said, “You have a problem with receiving.”
And they were right.
See, I didn’t mind receiving if I had done the work. If I had something to do with it, I was good. But to receive something freely? Without earning it? That felt… foreign. Almost wrong.
But here’s the thing—look at the Atonement of Jesus Christ. That gift was freely given. We can’t earn it. We don’t deserve it. And yet… it’s ours. It’s ours because of a loving Brother and a merciful Father in Heaven.
Now think about a tree. A tree doesn’t have to hustle. It doesn’t strive. It doesn’t question whether it’s worthy. It simply receives—sunlight, water, nutrients—and it grows. It doesn’t apologize for existing or for soaking up what’s been provided. It just stands tall and flourishes. No guilt. No earning. Just being.
What if our relationship with God could look like that?
What if we stopped trying so hard to prove ourselves… and just received what He’s already offering us? What if we really believed that He wants to bless us—not because we’ve earned it—but simply because He’s our Dad and we are His children?
We don’t have to earn our worthiness. We already are worthy. Becoming abundant, rich, and prosperous isn’t about material things—it’s about a state of being. It’s about knowing deep in our bones that everything we need is already being provided by a loving Heavenly Father who is excited for our growth. He’s excited to see us become who He’s always known we are.
We’re not alone. Ever. We get to take inspired action, guided by Him, step by step, toward exactly where He wants us to go.
“My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
