New Financial Highs

The Law of Rhythm teaches that nature moves in cycles. There’s a rhythm to everything—a natural ebb and flow.

So when life isn’t going well and you feel like you’re in a downswing, don’t despair. Know that the rhythm will shift. Things will get better. The upswing is coming. When we focus on that truth—that good times are ahead—we strengthen our faith and start preparing for the blessings that are on their way.

Take history, for example.

On October 29, 1929, the stock market crashed, plunging the U.S. into the Great Depression. It was a time of loss, scarcity, and fear—worse than most Americans could’ve imagined. And yet, generations later, the descendants of those same families now enjoy prosperity and comforts that were once unimaginable.

Today, people are once again speculating about a possible recession. But what if this is actually a golden opportunity? A time to lean into faith and prepare for the next wave of abundance?

I’ll never forget a few years ago when my husband and I really wanted to attend a Science of Getting Rich seminar taught by Leslie Householder. We just knew it would be life-changing. But at the time, both our cars had just needed repairs, and we’d faced several unexpected expenses. Our savings had taken a hit. Financially, we were at one of our lowest points in years.

But we felt called to attend—so we moved forward in faith. We registered for the seminar, fully expecting that somehow, the money would show up.

Then, while doing our taxes, my husband realized he had missed a transaction in his earlier calculations. The result? A tax refund for exactly the amount we needed to cover the seminar.

That weekend ended up changing the trajectory of our entire life. After the seminar, we felt inspired to move back to Texas. Within two months, my husband had two job offers—each one offering 20% more than he was currently making, with generous bonuses, stock options, profit sharing, and full relocation packages. Including the relocation, we easily doubled our income that year.

Looking back, I laugh. If I’d known then what I know now, I wouldn’t have hesitated for even a second to invest in that seminar.

And now, when we hit a financial low, we expect good news to follow. The best part? What used to be our high point is now our low point.

Here’s the important thing: don’t use the Law of Rhythm against yourself. When things are going well—don’t brace for impact or assume it has to come crashing down. Instead, keep building. Let your current high become your future baseline.

I remember when we had our first baby and I left my job to stay home. We were incredibly frugal, but still spending more than we made. Our “dream” back then was just to break even—that would’ve been a huge financial win!

But things shifted. Eventually, we did break even (our new low point). Then we wanted just a little extra cushion (our new high). When that became normal, we aimed for enough income to cover wants in addition to needs. Each time we grew, our old “high” became our new “low,” and we kept moving forward.

Always be grateful for what you have—but never stop setting new goals. Growth is part of the rhythm.

Now here’s something I’ve also learned:
We can grow through struggle, or we can grow through joy.

When we don’t understand the universal laws, we often wait until we hit rock bottom to learn hard lessons. And yes, growth still happens—but it’s a long, exhausting path full of fear and uncertainty.

But when you do understand these laws—especially the Law of Rhythm—you face challenges differently. You still experience car trouble, surprise medical bills, or job stress—but you no longer feel trapped. You know it’s temporary. You know that better days are just around the corner.

That knowing changes everything.

It fills you with peace, faith, and gratitude—and that energy? It helps the good times arrive even faster.
