Not in OUR Family

guest posts law of perpetual transmutation Sep 08, 2010

By Linda Knudsen

My husband was relentless in his desire. Our firstborn wasn’t even a year old when he asked, “When are we going to Disneyland?”

Disneyland?
My brain just about short-circuited. That word did not exist in my vocabulary.

Growing up, we went camping. Disneyland was for bratty, spoiled kids—and I was determined not to raise any of those. Besides, it was outrageously expensive. “We could never afford that,” I told him. End of discussion.

But the seed had already been planted.

If I’d understood the Law of Perpetual Transmutation back then, I could’ve predicted exactly how this was going to play out.

We were already living the law—without even realizing it.
A law as constant and dependable as gravity.

Have you ever watched nature? It’s predictable. Daffodils bloom every spring. Leaves fall every autumn. There is order.

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation teaches that all things are created spiritually before they appear physically. A thought held in our mind long enough—especially when paired with emotion and faith—will eventually manifest in our reality.

Think of it like planting a seed. Before a plant grows, it’s just a little kernel of potential. Just like an idea.

But when we plant that seed in the right soil—and we water it with our belief and passion—growth is inevitable.

Take my compost pile, for example.
This summer, I casually tossed some cantaloupe seeds into it and didn’t think about them again. Weeks later, I walked by and saw dozens of sprouts pushing up through the rich soil. Left alone, those seeds were turning into something.

That’s how ideas work too. You don’t always need to hover. Just plant in good soil and let nature do its thing.

Of course, some seeds need a little more intention.
Back in my garden, I realized if I wanted juicy cantaloupes, I’d need to thin the seedlings. I pulled the spindly ones, gave the strongest room to grow, and even transplanted a few. Some didn’t make it—poor water access, a misstep, or a run-in with my hoe. But one lucky transplant landed next to a water spigot and is thriving.

That’s the power of the right environment.

Meanwhile, back in real life, my husband kept watering that Disneyland dream. With every new child, he’d nudge again:
“So... when are we going to Disneyland?”

At first, I resisted. Hard. But little by little, my heart began to shift.

We started learning more about abundance and financial freedom. We flipped a few houses. We got serious about creating the life we wanted. And that Disneyland seed? It kept growing.

Eventually, it bore fruit.

We made the Disneyland Mecca—debt-free.

We rented an RV so the kids could travel in comfort. We stayed at the Grand Californian. Had breakfast with Disney characters. Bought the over-the-top souvenirs. We had the most wildly magical, memory-packed, laugh-until-you-cry vacation I could’ve never imagined back in my camping-only days.

And even now, years later, we still talk about it with sparkly eyes and full hearts.

To me, that’s what financial freedom looks like:
Time and resources to make memories with your family.

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation is always at work. You can use it intentionally—or you can let it run in the background.

So plant something today. Even if it’s a tiny thought.
Nurture it with belief.
Protect it from self-doubt and neglect.
Give it space, light, and time.

Then watch.
Just like the cantaloupe in my garden, it will grow.
