Perpetual Transmutation of Energy

Universal laws are always working. You might remember from junior high chemistry that everything is either coming into form or going out of form at all times. That principle is known as the Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy. But what does that have to do with living the laws of prosperity and success?
Let’s take a moment to consider the goals you're working on right now. Are they in the process of coming into form—or slipping away? Is that even something you can influence? What can you do beyond working harder and longer?
The universal laws we’re talking about are thinking laws. Of course, thoughts eventually lead to action. You set the goal with thought, and you receive it through action—but let’s zero in on the thinking side as it relates to the Law of Perpetual Transmutation.
Have you ever had something good just fall into your life—without any real effort—and thought, How did that even happen? That’s exactly what happened to me last fall.
To everyone’s surprise (including my own), I got the idea that I wanted to go to a local college football game. This was unusual for me—I typically skip sporting events in favor of reading a book or spending time in the garden. Football games are often too hot, too long, and too exhausting. My husband, aware of my usual game-day fatigue, had bought only one season ticket this year.
But as the season went on and our team kept winning, the thought of going to one game—under the right circumstances—started to sound kind of fun. It had to be a night game, against a team we’d probably beat. No tickets were available, but I casually announced that it would be fun to go anyway. I didn’t overthink it, I didn’t get discouraged—I just held the thought lightly. It made me happy to imagine it happening.
Then, the night before that exact game, my daughter called. My grandson—who sits next to my husband at the games—was sick and wouldn’t be going. Did I know someone who could use the extra ticket?
Yes. Me.
It was a beautiful evening, we won the game, and I had the experience I’d imagined—just as I had quietly planned in my mind.
So when did it actually become possible for me to attend the game? I believe it began the moment I had the desire. From that point forward, the energy began moving, and events began aligning. Of course, I didn’t make my grandson sick. The circumstances could have played out in any number of ways. What matters is that things moved to support the desire I held—and that’s the heart of the Law of Perpetual Transmutation. Circumstances are always shifting—either toward or away from our thoughts.
You’ve probably experienced this yourself. Have you ever pictured yourself pulling into the perfect parking spot in front of a store, and then found one waiting for you when you arrived? It doesn’t happen every single time, but often enough to make you think, Huh. That worked. That’s a simple example of this law in action.
Now, let’s come back to your current goals. If everything is always moving in or out of form, depending on your thoughts, then you do have some control over your results. In fact, you have a lot.
Have you noticed how often the people who believe are the ones who receive? Do you genuinely believe your goals are possible—or is your mind cluttered with doubt, fear, and frustration? Because in either case, the Law of Perpetual Transmutation is responding to your thoughts.
Here’s a quick, powerful exercise:
Take a blank sheet of paper and write your goal at the top.
Then draw two columns underneath.
In the left-hand column, write every reason your goal won’t happen.
In the right-hand column, write all the reasons it can and will.
Now—draw a big X through that left column. It no longer gets your attention.
Read the right column every morning and every night. Visualize your goal pulling into its perfect “parking spot.”
As you focus, you’ll feel nudges. You’ll take inspired action. And things will begin to shift. That’s the fun of consciously working with these universal laws.
The Law of Perpetual Transmutation is just one of seven powerful laws that make goal achievement not just possible—but predictable. Play with them. Use them. And watch your life begin to transform.
