The longer the impact, the greater the gift
Hi Reader,
This is the time of year when we reflect on things that have had the most significant impact in our lives. We ponder the reason for the season: the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the gifts he has given us - gifts that don't fade over time.
As you think about the gifts you will give your loved ones this season, think about the kinds of gifts that could have the longest impact:
It might be finally having that healing conversation that's long overdue. It might be seeking the help you need to give up an addiction that has brought pain and suffering to your family. It might be giving support to a loved one's dream in a more meaningful way than you've given in the past...
Finding relief from heavy burdens
When we realized we had purchased too much real estate at the top of the market, sometimes all we could do to calm ourselves was to turn off the lights, close our eyes, and let our “Peace Like a River” CD soothe our troubled hearts.
It was one way we tried to focus on the Savior, and feel assured that in the eternal scheme of things, everything was going to turn out okay if we fixed our faith upon Him. In time, he showed us that no matter how heavy the burden, he had the power to do for us what He had once promised someone else:
“I will … ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that … you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.”
